Position: Engineering Team Leader

Package: £48,000 p/annum salaried, Pension, Holidays

Hours: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off (12hr shifts) continental pattern. Overtime 1.5x

Environment: State of the art fully automated high-volume manufacturing site inc clean room

Location: WA3

Part of a global business my client has been established for over 30 years and have an illustrious history of manufacturing personal protective equipment for professionals across industry and healthcare.


We have an opportunity for experienced Engineering Team Leaders to lead and support our shift maintenance teams at our brand-new state of the art manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Facilities Engineering Manager you will be an integral member of the team, helping meet the demands of our busy factory improving equipment and team performance.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direct leadership of the Engineering Team on shift.
  • Prioritise work to minimise machinery downtime & ensure maximum use of resources.
  • Have the ability to lead and motivate Engineers, and coach in best practice techniques and identify areas where skills need developed.
  • Manage and find solutions for reactive issues, aiming to resolve on shift in a timely manner.
  • Co-ordinate planned maintenance, ensuring that PPM is complete with minimal production impact.
  • Ensure that the team is on track with accomplishing engineering departmental goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team.
  • Undertake Incident Management, Accident and Near Miss investigations where relevant and ensure standards of discipline are maintained, handling in line with company discipline procedures
  • This role would be 60% hands on, with 40% of the role being around compliance, team management, handovers, PPM’s.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • The role would suit candidates who are time served in engineering and qualified to ONC, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or suitable equivalent qualification (e.g. Degree) in electrical / mechanical engineering.
  • Work experience within a high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supervising skilled workers.
  • Works well under pressure
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
